If you had to choose the birthplace of tomorrow's world-changers, where would it be?
Many of history's most influential Christians came from unlikely places. David Unaipon, one of Australia's most prolific inventors and Indigenous Christian intellectuals was born at Point McLeay Mission in regional SA (he is honoured on our $50 note).
Rev. John Flynn was born in the tiny Victorian hamlet of Moliagul and had a massive impact through his Royal Flying Doctor Service, School of the Air and the Australian Inland Mission.
And of course, Jesus – the saviour of the entire world – was born in uncelebrated Nazareth.
Great things can come from small places when faith, vision and perseverance take root, and small places are a big part of our focus here at Vision.
That's why this month we are highlighting a practical need that you can help with.
27 years ago, the very first "Vision FM" transmitter was switched on in a small town, and since then, many hundreds more have followed nationwide. Sadly, equipment does not last forever and many are now needing repairs or replacement. If they fail, signals will go silent.
Mission: Transmission is your opportunity to help so God's Word can continue to be heard uninterrupted across hundreds of small towns.
Here's an example of one of those small towns.
Clifton QLD is home to 1,490 souls and has had Vision Radio since 2010. One of the locals, Eve, has been listening all that time – and it has had a big impact on her!
"My life has been enriched, guided and inspired, and I've learnt so much by listening to the teachings, talkback and songs in my art studio" she said.
Eve also shared her understanding of how Vision is made possible:
"…without our stewardship in keeping these transmissions alive, God's message won't reach our communities. Donations are what keeps Vision alive."
The need for this project is $500,000, and we are believing this need will be met by the end of February – so our team can get on with the job with confidence.
