Hi,
Imagine yourself unexpectedly in the Middle East right now.
That was the situation for one couple in the Vision family. They were among the many Aussies unexpectedly stuck in the Middle East two weeks ago as they were travelling.
One of them is a frequent reader of Vision’s The Word for Today. He wrote to tell us how last week's Vision Today email (titled "God is not shaken") spoke volumes in his situation:
"Hi Phil - loved the message. Great encouragement.
My wife and I were stuck in Dubai last Saturday when things blew up here (literally). Our flights kept getting pushed back, and DFAT kept telling us to stay put and wait. Thankfully, we’ve since been able to get on to a flight and out of the country."
That certainly makes it real, doesn't it? It is one thing to watch from afar, but a whole different situation to be there and hear the missiles as they hit their mark. Yet, he spoke of calm in the storm:
"As Christians, we are not troubled. His protection is upon us.
When I wake in the middle of the night, it is Vision's
The Word for Today that I turn to every time - and the Bible in a year.
Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers."
You don't have to be in a war zone to experience unplanned, unsettling moments.
But I am reminded that Jesus spoke directly into moments like these. In John 14, as His disciples faced fear and uncertainty about what lay ahead, He gently told them, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Those words still speak powerfully today.
This week has reminded me again that one of the healthiest responses for us as followers of Jesus is turning from watching to praying. Prayer doesn’t remove the uncertainty around us, but it lifts our eyes to the One who remains in control, even when plans unravel and situations take us by surprise.
That’s why Vision exists. To be a trusted Christian media presence that helps people keep their hearts anchored in God's truth and pointed toward Jesus daily.
Thank you for standing with Vision. Your support helps ensure that, even when the world feels unsettled, people across Australia and beyond can continue to hear the hope of Jesus. |
