On Census Night, one simple question can remind us of something we too easily forget: who we truly belong to.
For Christians, our identity is not simply found in what we do, where we live or how others see us. At the heart of our lives is this quiet confidence: we belong to Jesus. A confidence that shapes how we live, how we love, what we hope for and how we serve.
The Census may feel impersonal, but your answer truly matters. It helps show that Christian faith is still a living, deeply valued part of Australian life, shaping families, communities, schools, chaplaincy, care and ministry.
My deep conviction is that followers of Jesus should not feel they need to hide the faith that shapes who they are. This is about allowing what is most true of us to remain visible in our homes, our communities and even in the way we are counted.
So, when the question appears, I want to encourage you: do not leave this part of who you are invisible. Let your faith be counted.
That is why we at Vision are encouraging Christians across Australia to answer thoughtfully and honestly next Tuesday, not as a statistic, but as people whose identity in Christ still matters in public life.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house… let your light shine before others.” Matthew 5:14–16
