Hi,
This week I was delighted to see someone I respect greatly given a great honour.
The King's Birthday Honours List celebrates remarkable people for their service to our nation. Among them is our good friend Tim Hanna, who received the Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to the church and to charitable organisations. It was wonderful to see him honoured in this way.
Tim’s story is one marked by faithfulness over many years. Born in Northern Ireland and migrating to Adelaide as a child, he came to faith as a young adult alongside his wife after a simple workplace conversation pointed them to Jesus.
From there, he stepped into ministry - pastoring churches, training leaders, and eventually serving as CEO of Compassion Australia for a decade, where he championed the vital connection between the local church, the gospel, and caring for children in poverty. In more recent years, he also led Sports Chaplaincy Australia, continuing his lifelong passion to see people flourish.
In 2024 I had opportunity to sit in a studio conversation with Tim, and his humility, wisdom, and heart for people shine through so clearly. If you missed it, you can revisit the conversation here.
Tim’s life reminds me how one simple moment can change everything. It began with someone sharing faith in an everyday conversation, and from that point, Tim’s life took a completely different direction.
Over the years, through his leadership and ministry, countless lives have been impacted, encouraged, and shaped by the hope of Jesus. It’s a picture of what we’re all called to do - to share the hope we’ve found, wherever God has placed us. And it’s exactly what Vision is about every day, helping that message go further so more Australians can encounter Jesus for themselves.
And speaking of transformation — we’re still celebrating Vision Christian Radio now being citywide in Perth on DAB+. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Listeners across the metro area are telling us how grateful they are to have Vision crystal-clear on digital radio, right where they are. If you’re curious about how DAB+ works or want to help someone tune in, you can explore DAB+ radio info.
It’s a beautiful reminder that the message we share so widely — the hope of Jesus — is eternal. And every person reached is another life touched by that hope.
Thank you for standing with us, praying with us, and helping Vision bring God’s Word to Australia, every day.
Blessings,
